| No Spam I - Anti-spam Site | Cheek.Org |
"I've been getting spam from someone at Cheek.Org asking me to visit the site, buy products, or whatever. Why are you spamming me?"
If you have received spam that appears to be coming from Cheek.Org or advertising products for Cheek.Org, rest assured that it did not come from this site. As outlined in our privacy statement (see $link:http://www.cheek.org/nospami/privacy.htm$), Cheek.Org does not send spam or associate with known spammers.
Spammers commonly fake or "spoof" the headers of the messages they send, making it appear as if the email came from a different source. They do this to get past spam filters and also to mislead people into opening emails they might otherwise delete without reading. Cheek.Org comes up occasionally as a fake address because it has existed on the web since 1998 and I have made no secret of Cheek.Org contact information, so it's obviously on a lot of lists. 'Cheek' is also a fairly common name for a body part (even if it is a fairly uncommon name for a person), so some address at Cheek.Org is bound to appear in randomly generated lists.
If you signed up for a mailing list, website update notification, or other service from Cheek.Org that you no longer wish to receive, please follow the instructions included in every email for how to cancel the service. If you don't remember signing up, it is possible that you did so by mistake or that someone else used your email address (by mistake or on purpose). Contact the operators of the services in question if you have any difficulty cancelling.
