I bought the bards tale for my Amstrad CPC after reading the review in ACE magazine. I then progressed to BTII on my XT and played it for many years, mapping the dungeons, fighting zombies and bugmen. My XT has long since bitten the dust, but BTII still plays in CGA on PIV2800. I've had to start again and now a second wife has become a BT widow. BTIV will sell, I thought I was the only fan, but look at the web pages dedicated to this game and you'll see there are millions of us!

The original The Bard's Tale (1985?) set the standard for all other CRPG's at that time. Now 20 years later, since the first Bard's Tale impressed and addicted thousands of gamers, it's time to continue what was started, and develop quality CRPG's using today's technology with yesterday's imagination, heart, and commitment. To combine these two elements is to invite success. I would gladly pay any reasonable price for an updated, first-person CRPG.

I bought all three Bard's Tale games for my old Commodore system. I still have it, it still works, and I still use it. The Bard's Tale series being the disks I break out the most often. The Bard has a powerful thirst, and no matter how many times I complete the quests, I can't quench it! Bard's Tale 4? You're bloody well right I will buy it in a heartbeat! Just combine the graphics power of today's computers, with the fabulous storylines of yesterday, forget all this real-time kill-or-be-killed hack-and-slash stuff that passes for "adventure games" today, bring back STRATEGY! Still in the tavern drinking, over-tipping the bartender, tipping over the barmaid, and praying for more adventures.....

I just played Bards Tale for playstation 2 and this is the best damn game I ever played. I want more!!!!! I love it so much, the graphics, the humor, the songs. It is great. I love that you dont have to carry all your aquired weapons, armour and such, it is upgraded and taken care of. You dont have to recall back to sell everything. I have played RPG for a very long time and this is the best by far. I would pay any price. You have a great thing going here. It has made me want to travel to the real town. Please keep the Bard going. It is the best game. I cant say enough about it.

I would love to play Bardstale 1 through 3 on a newer PC. I started playing Destiny Knight back in 1990 and I was hooked. I played for 3 months straight mapping out everything on graph paper. I still never finished the game but It was the best RPG I ever experienced. 15 years later and me and my friend both agree that its time for a re release.

I've been having a lot of fun with the PS2 version of The Bard's Tale, however it makes me yearn for the days when I used to play it on the PC. I just recently bought the "new" Bard's Tale, and, after researching the old games on the net, I realized how much more it could have been. Please create this game, not only for the diehard fans, but for those of us who missed the first thrill. It doesn't matter who you are trying to appeal to. People buy any game that looks appealing; people talk about great games for a lifetime.

Bard's Tale was the program that set me on the course of computer gaming. Without it, many would not have realized the depth and character a computer rpg could possess. If there were a fourth, with the spirit and feel of the originals(especially III), not only would I buy it, I'd get my friends to by it, and I'd be much more open to future products by the creators. Thanks for your time.

I am anxiously awaiting and hoping an Interplay will make Bard's Tale IV. Weapons such as the bard's Frost Horn, armour such as Diamond Plate, to the new magic classes of Necromancer, etc has shown that each release proves to be much better than the last. In Bard's Tale IV, I would like to see the same type of RPG that made the first three so popular. Go Mangar!

This legendary series laid the foundation for computer based rpg adventure and hooked many of us onto the genre for life. A bard's tale IV following the simplistic, yet challenging style of its predecessors can't help but be a success (even from an economic standpoint considering the minimal complex programming required). Three cheers for whoever carries the torch forward.

The Bard's Tale and similar games (Dragon Wars) stand out as unique and challenging. I feel that this turn-based, Fantasy Role-Playing style of game had too short-lived of a golden age. Once Doom hit the market it was all over and from them on all games centered around action and graphics. The turn-based games allowed for a relaxing and rewarding experience. Exploring towns and dungeons, managing weapons and armor, visiting shops, turn-based combat, casting spells were all set against a backdrop of watching your characters grow as you reached game milestones - there was a sense of accomplishment that newer games simply cannot offer. I'd welcome a new official Bard's Tale game. They don't have to do too much or try to adjust it for today's game market, that would ruin it. Sure the graphics would be impoved and the interface "cleaned-up" a bit from the simple bit-map days, but in general the forumla for these games needs very little innovation.

Please someone somewhere find Mike O'Hara and have this Part 4 made with real technology! Don't "ps2" it by making it a full action game. (such as the new xbox/ps2 release out there) Keep it in the true tradition but with animated fight sequences and more detailed photos of the various characters.

Great series of games. I wish their were more turn based combat games like this around today. The lack of running around in combat for position was good too. Less options does NOT mean less fun! I also like the text based reporting of damage that was used.

I really wish Bard's Tale 4 would be made. This series was taken out way too early. I have many fond memories of being a 13 year old child playing BT 1 for 8 hour stretches on weekend nights hoping my parents wouldn't catch me staying up all night playing a game! It's a shame there are no more first person text games like this anymore. The gaming industry falsely believes all games made today ust be in 3-d format. There are huge amounts of people who grew up playing 2-d and text based games. Look at the success of the castlevania series! It may be 2-d but the masses love it. I think a well done Bard's Tale has huge potential. Please start this series up again! Thank you.

Please make a Bard's Tale IV in the same genre as the original 3. It is an awsome game that I played when my hubby first introduced me to a computer. I spent hours playing it when he was at work. I loved the mapping and turn based fighting. The graphics could be a bit better but those games rocked. I have also started playing bards tale 1 on the pc again. It actually challenges you and takes more than a week to complete, not like some games today.

ONE of the most appealing aspects of the bards trilogy's was the extensive array of random items that accompanied killing the awesome creatures. PLAY IT AGAIN SAM....PLEASE!!! Sincerly yours, a devoted and fanatic Bard's tale player. p.s. You wouldn't even have to market it in the money hungry distributers, just make it and I'll buy it online from your site. While games have progressed technologically since the days of yore and tales of the unknown, so to speak, nothing has surpassed the Bard's Tale series and its ilk in terms of atmosphere, game play, and in my opinion immersion. I still consider the old school, phased combat 1st person RPGs to be superior in almost all respects to what pass as RPGs these days, and of its time, the Bard's Tale games were clearly the best. I would happily buy a new Bard's Tale release (assuming it were on the same lines as the old games and not some attempt to capitalize on a brand name), and vociferously recommend it to my friends as well.

I spent countless hours playing thru the first two games on a friends computer as I was too young to own my own and was not allowed to put games on the family computer. Later on, I bought the construction set disk which I still have. Now, I just got the newer version of the rereleased The Bards Tale, which has all three versions of the old game on it. However, now I can't figure out how to move my character set from version one to version two and so on. PLEASE MAKE BARD IV!!!

Although there is a new "Bards Tale" RPG-like game on the market I want my old BT1-3 stuff back. Newer graphics, more classes of magicians, bigger worlds, but please I DONT WANT ACTION RPGS OR REAL TIME OR SUCH THINGS I love these games like BT 1 - 3. Why not provide such freaks as I am with a new "old" game? There is definitely a market for it.

Although I did enjoy the story and humor of the 2005 release 'The Bard's Tale', I would love to see another Bards Tale game released (Bard's Tale IV) in the classic style of the original series. Or updating the original three to todays standards of computing graphics and sound power.

I loved the BT 1-3, and had bought them as soon as I could when each came out. The Bard's Tale series of games are some of the few that I've played through to completion, and not just one time. Even after all this time, I still play them occasionally. I'd be first in line to get BT4, as long as it was similar in style to the first 3.

I would love to see the Bards Tale continue. I have just recently completed the new Bards Tale and it's a very good game, but it's just missing something. The old series was fun because you had castles, dungeons, etc to crawl through and you could actually use a lot of the treasures that you found. If no Bards Tale 4, how about just updating the original 3 to modern day graphics and sounds. I would buy all three again.

The original Bard's Tale was my introduction to fantasy role-playing, and I've been going ever since then. The series, as a whole, represents some of the best of what a good game is: an engaging story, a huge challenge to overcome, almost limitless variations on how to win (try to play with only mages sometime =D), and a fairly simple interface (I'm almost 28 now, and was only 10 when the first came out). With the number of people who play RPG's, it seems like a simple decision to make an official fourth chapter to this story.

I have enjoyed the countless hours of trying to build a party worthy of being able to survive in the dungeons. Trying to figure out the riddles has been great for the mind. I would love to see more games such as the Bard's Tales come out. I would definetly be one of the first to purchase them. I didn't know that this series was put back out until about a month ago. I bought it and still have only played the original series. I haven't play the new version yet. I heard it was hard enough. I had played the original version back in the late 80's with a friend on the commadore 64 and it is still how I remember it. Keep up the good work and don't let this type of game or schooling go out of style or disappear. Keep them coming.

What a classic series of games. They could reel you in, take away hours of your day, change your diet, and do it all with you as a willing participant. I was just beginning my trek through computer games when the first of the Bard's Tale series came out; I still game today, and still use the series as a yardstick to measure other games by. We'd love to set out on yet another journey through the Bard's Tale universe.

Played the new Bard's Tale. Utter crap, and nowhere near following or even giving so much as a nod to the legacy of the original three. Maybe the powers-that-be could put their heads out of their nether regions long enough to realize that flashy graphics (and that's even a stretch with this new game) and starring voices do not make a story, or a memorable game. Bring back the true Bard's Tale!

After 20 years worth of regret for never having completed The Bard's Tale (Tales of the Unknown: Volume I) on my Commodore 64, I decided to install the DOS version on my PC this week and give it another whirl. I am unsure whether it is the nostalgic effects or just the simple (yet excellent) gameplay that keeps me interested; regardless, I will be the first to admit that I am having just as much fun as when I was a teenager. Right now, I am in the process of trying to locate an vintage Commodore 64 version (clue book as well), just for the fond memories that this wonderful game had provided me in my youth. Please contact me if there is ever a Bard's Tale IV released, as I can be considered a guaranteed customer.

I bought BT1 the day it came to the shops, and it hooked me on RPGs. BT2 was the best BT of the three, and the new "Bardīs Tale" realy sucks. give it another name and it could be a good game, but like it is now - I do not like it. Just do a new BT in the style of the old ones, but with auto mapping, and everything should be fine. It would not cost that much money in developement, and thus could hit the market as a low budget game, reaching many, many players.

Hey there! Longtime Bard's Tale player here, originally on the Apple II with Bard's Tales 1-3. I cant tell you how many hours I played those games!! The Bard's Tale series has been my favorite RPG game. I was telling someone yesterday that it's amazing that after 20 years of advancements in computer technology and the best RPG environment is still Skara Brae. I love the classic D&D set-up and the turn-based encounter system. I was overjoyed to find the original series included as part of the new Bard's Tale PC/Xbox game and bought the new game just so I could replay the original series. I would easily pay north of $50.00 for a new RPG as engaging and challenging as the first three.

The original series was one of the best RPG games I have ever played. I started playing Wizardry on my original Apple IIe back in the early 1980's when I discovered the BT series. I played the series through High School, college and beyond. When I saw a way to get the original games through the "new" BT game, I bought the game just so I could play the original series again. I would love to see a BT IV come out. NO other RPG game created compares to this series of games. Please create and release a BT IV in the same spirit as the original three.

Loved the original Bard's Tale games! I am another who played them on the Commodore 64, and the thing I disliked was the waiting -- waiting for a new monster or dungeon picture to load, or waiting for a new combat round to begin, etc. With today's computer capabilities, these issues would not exist, and we fans would be able to fully enjoy our Bard's Tale game!! Bring on BTIV!!

The Bard's Tale series was the next best thing to pen and paper rpg games. Even today, there are people who are willing to overlook the primitive graphics and play the game. All that would be required from the company would be to revamp the graphics and keep the same system of battles we all know and love. Any company that would undertake this effort would be sure to make profit.
